Quick answers

Homeowner questions, answered straight

How often should I inspect my roof?
Twice a year — once in spring after the freeze-thaw cycle, once in fall before winter. Also after any major wind or hail event.
When should I replace vs. repair my roof?
Under 15 years with localized damage — repair. Over 20 years with widespread wear, multiple leaks, or sagging — replacement is usually the better investment.
Do I need a permit for roof work?
Most NJ, PA, and CT municipalities require permits for full replacements and significant structural repairs. We pull permits on every job that needs one.
What's the difference between TPO and EPDM?
TPO reflects heat (better in summer), has heat-welded seams, and comes in white. EPDM is black rubber, proven over decades, and handles temperature cycling well. We spec based on your building, not a favorite.
How long does a typical roof replacement take?
Most single-family homes are done in 1-2 days. Larger homes or complex roofs can stretch to 3-5 days. Weather can extend the timeline — we schedule around forecasts.
Is my old siding worth repairing?
If the damage is localized and matching material is available, yes. If panels are pulling away at multiple corners, siding is faded to multiple colors, or sheathing is rotting underneath — replacement is the durable fix.
