Siding

Vinyl, fiber cement, and engineered wood siding — install, repair, replace.

Siding is what protects your walls and defines your home's curb appeal. NextGen HIG installs, repairs, and replaces siding systems across NJ, PA, and CT — always over a properly detailed weather-resistive barrier, because the siding's job is to shed water, not stop it.

We work in vinyl, fiber cement (including James Hardie), and engineered wood. Every install includes house wrap integration with windows and doors, correct flashing at transitions, and trim detailing that reads clean from the street.

Whether you're replacing failing vinyl, upgrading to fiber cement, or repairing storm damage, we spec the system to your home's structure and climate zone.

When to call us

Signs you need siding

Catch these early and siding repairs stay simple — ignore them and you're paying for interior damage on top of the exterior fix.

  • Cracked, warped, or missing panels

Vinyl cracks from impact and UV; fiber cement and wood rot from water. Damaged panels stop shedding water and let moisture into the wall assembly.

  • Fading, chalking, or peeling paint

Severe color fade on vinyl or chalky residue on fiber cement means the pigment layer is gone. Repainting is only possible on paintable substrates.

  • Interior moisture or mold near exterior walls

Water staining at window sills, baseboards, or drywall adjacent to outside walls usually means the siding and house wrap have failed.

  • Rotted trim, fascia, or sheathing

Soft wood around windows, doors, and roofline means water is getting behind the siding. Trim rot is usually a symptom of a larger flashing or siding failure.

  • High heating or cooling bills

Aging siding and degraded house wrap let conditioned air leak out. Replacement with modern house wrap and optional insulated siding often pays back in utility savings.

  • Visible seam separations or caulk failures

Open seams at corners, windows, and doors are primary leak points. Re-caulking is temporary; if seams are pulling apart, the underlying system needs attention.

Systems we install for siding

We don't push a preferred brand — we spec the system that fits your building, climate, and ownership horizon. Here's what we install and when each makes sense.

  • Premium vinyl siding

Mastic and Royal lifetime-rated vinyl in dozens of profiles and colors. Best value for most NJ, PA, and CT homes — 25+ year real-world lifespan with minimal maintenance.

  • Insulated vinyl

Vinyl bonded to rigid foam backer — adds R-value, stiffens the panel against impact, and reduces noise. A good choice for colder PA and CT locations or homes with minimal wall insulation.

  • James Hardie fiber cement

Pre-finished or paintable fiber cement in plank, shingle, and vertical profiles. Fire-resistant, insect-proof, and hail-rated. Installed to HZ5-spec in our climate zone with 15-year finish warranty.

  • LP SmartSide engineered wood

Engineered wood siding with real-wood texture and modern durability. Lighter than fiber cement, accepts paint well, and performs in the Northeast's freeze-thaw cycles.

  • House wrap and weather barrier

Tyvek or equivalent wrap with taped seams, integrated with window and door flashing. The siding sheds water; this layer stops it. We don't skip or overlap it incorrectly.

  • PVC and aluminum trim

Trim that outlasts the paint cycle — PVC for painted finishes, pre-finished aluminum for wraps. Both avoid the rot-and-repaint cycle that wood trim creates on older homes.
