Gutters

Seamless gutters, gutter guards, and downspout systems.

Gutters are cheap insurance for your most expensive systems — the roof, the siding, the foundation. NextGen HIG installs seamless aluminum and copper gutters fabricated on-site, sized to your roof's actual drainage load, and hung with hidden hangers instead of spike-and-ferrule.

Undersized or poorly pitched gutters are a leading cause of fascia rot, basement seepage, and ice dams. We measure roof area, calculate drainage, and spec 5- or 6-inch K-style gutters (or half-round for historic homes) with downspouts sized to clear storm events, not just average rain.

We install gutter guards that actually work — not the plastic mesh that clogs in a year. Our leaf guard systems carry manufacturer warranties and are serviceable without removing the roof edge.

What's included

Every gutters project includes

  • Seamless Fabrication

Gutters rolled on-site to the exact length of each run — no seams to leak.

  • Correct Pitch & Sizing

Pitched to downspouts and sized to your roof's actual drainage load.

  • Hidden Hangers

Screwed hidden hangers every 24 inches — not spike-and-ferrule that loosens over time.

  • Downspout Systems

2x3 or 3x4 downspouts with elbows and extensions to direct water away from foundations.

  • Leaf Guards

Micro-mesh and reverse-curve leaf guard systems — installed correctly, serviceable later.

  • Splash Blocks / Drainage

Splash blocks, underground extensions, and dry wells tied into downspouts where required.

When to call us

Signs you need gutters

Catch these early and gutters repairs stay simple — ignore them and you're paying for interior damage on top of the exterior fix.

  • Water overflowing during rain

Overflow means undersized gutters, bad pitch, or clogs. All three risk fascia rot and foundation damage if left — upgrading now is cheaper than replacing fascia later.

  • Sagging or pulling-away gutters

Spike-and-ferrule hangers loosen over time and pull out of rotted fascia. Hidden-hanger systems screwed into sound fascia solve this permanently.

  • Stained fascia or soffit

Dark stains or rotted fascia boards mean water has been escaping the gutter for a while. Repair or replace both gutters and damaged fascia.

  • Water pooling near the foundation

If downspouts dump water next to the house, it ends up in the basement. Extensions, splash blocks, or underground routing keep water away from the foundation.

  • Ice dams and icicles in winter

Ice dams form when gutters fill with slush and refreeze. Bigger gutters, heated cables, or better attic ventilation all help — we assess the root cause before recommending.

  • Gutters full of plant growth or debris

If grass or weeds are growing in the gutters, they've been neglected for too long. Leaf guards plus a thorough cleaning usually gets them back in working condition.

Materials & options

Systems we install for gutters

We don't push a preferred brand — we spec the system that fits your building, climate, and ownership horizon. Here's what we install and when each makes sense.

  • Seamless aluminum K-style

Rolled on-site from coil aluminum — continuous runs with no seams to leak. Available in 5-inch (standard residential) and 6-inch (larger roofs, heavy-tree environments). 20+ standard colors.

  • Copper half-round and K-style

Custom-fabricated copper for historic homes, high-end builds, and homeowners who want a century of service life. Develops a natural patina over time. Soldered seams and copper hangers included.

  • 6-inch heavy-load gutters

When 5-inch can't keep up — steep roofs, large roof area, or ice-dam-prone homes. 6-inch holds nearly 40% more water and reduces overflow during heavy storms.

  • Hidden hangers (screwed)

Our default. Screwed every 24 inches into sound fascia. Far stronger than spike-and-ferrule, which loosens over time and is the top cause of sagging gutters.

  • Micro-mesh leaf guards

Fine stainless or aluminum mesh that keeps needles, seeds, and debris out while letting water through. Works on high-volume flows without overshoot.

  • Reverse-curve leaf guards

Surface-tension style guards that use water's adhesion to direct flow into the gutter. Handle heavy leaf loads well; slightly more expensive than micro-mesh but easier to maintain.

  • Downspout upgrades

3x4 downspouts carry roughly twice the water of 2x3. Upgrading downspout size and count is often the cheapest way to fix an overflow problem without replacing the gutter.

  • Underground drainage and pop-ups

Schedule 40 PVC routing to pop-up emitters or dry wells away from the foundation. We install to local code with proper grade and cleanouts.

Our process

How it works

  1. 1

    On-Site Measurement

Roof area, run lengths, and downspout count measured — no estimating from the driveway.

  2. 2

    Written Estimate

Itemized by linear foot, downspout, and options (guards, colors, materials).

  3. 3

    Fabrication & Install

Gutters rolled on-site and installed in a single day on most homes.

  4. 4

    Water Test

We run water through gutters to verify pitch, flow, and no leaks before leaving.

Questions

Frequently asked

  • 5-inch K-style handles most single-family homes. 6-inch is better for large or steep roofs, homes with many trees, and homes where ice damming has been a problem. We size based on your roof's actual drainage load.
